Fight Cellulite with Coffee

9 Aug

I love coffee!!  I thought I’d start by putting that out there.  I love the smell and the taste of it and I drink it black.  At least one cup a day…and if you include my Starbucks soy latte addiction (don’t judge), then that one cup a day easily turns into more.  Like everything else nowadays, however, there is a huge debate on whether or not coffee is good for you.  I’m on the “coffee is good for you” bandwagon.  Yes, I may be bias but I can’t help it.  I love the stuff and find there are more benefits than not and as long as you’re not drinking like 5 cups a day and adding heaping spoons of sugar and cream to it then you’re good to go.

Did you know that having a cup of coffee lowers your chances for developing certain cancers, dementia, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, etc?  If this isn’t reason enough to continue your caffeine addiction did you know that coffee (with caffeine) works wonders on cellulite??? 🙂  Yup you read it right coffee helps cellulite!  Maybe you should brew yourself a cup before continuing to read on… 😉

Caffeinated coffee has the effect of dilating blood vessels which, in turn, tones and tightens tissue. In addition, toxin build-up, one of the most common reasons for cellulite, is released because of the antioxidants and stimulation that coffee delivers. According to Dr. Oz, the caffeine in coffee grounds enhances fat metabolism, and, when applied the skin, it helps to absorb and remove liquid. Translation? Your lumps and bumps are noticeably less visible.

Best part? You most likely have all the ingredients already in your kitchen.

DIY Coffee Scrub

What You Need

A medium tight-sealing jar
½ cup of ground coffee (unused)
¼ cup of sea OR epsom salt
¼ cup white OR brown sugar
¼ cup of either almond oil OR olive oil

How to Make It

First mix together all dry ingredients, then pour the oil on top and mix well. Store in the jar in a cool dark place for up to a year.

You can use this scrub twice a week in the shower. Slather on to any parts of your body that need extra help with cellulite and scrub in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water. This scrub not only has the benefits of the coffee, but you also get the exfoliation from the salt and sugar and the moisturizing from the oil.

I know…you are all asking me why I didn’t post this at the BEGINNING of bikini season??  Sorry folks…I just read up on this do-it-yourself mixture recently.  But it’s never too late…I’m going to create a batch right now and slather some on just before the weekend 🙂

Until next time,

Have a fit and fabulous day!
